As we quickly approach party season, new festive beauty trends begin to emerge.
Hailey Bieber, of course, is at the forefront of the latest transitional makeup trend, and, as always, her timing couldn’t be better.
‘Sugar Plum Fairy’ makeup requires minimal effort yet gives that perfect cold girl aesthetic, adding a touch of frosting to highlight the key areas of the face.
Unlike many of the trends that Mrs Bieber has been responsible for, this one isn’t food-or-drink-inspired; rather, it has a bit of a backstory.
In a now-viral TikTok video, the ‘Rhode’ founder revealed that as a young girl, she practised ballet, and one of her leading roles helped influence this makeup look.
“When I was 16 I was the Sugar Plum Fairy in the Nutcracker…this is my 2023 version of that makeup. My go to vibe for the holiday season!”.
Here’s how you can nail this winter makeup look before party season officially kicks off.
Hailey starts by applying her concealer underneath her eyes before going in with a cream blush and a brush.
For this look, your blush has a very crucial and newer role to play than what we’re used to.
Using the brush to start, the model gives a generous helping of colour across her cheeks.
Instead of confining the pink to just the cheekbones, Hailey takes it to new heights and brings the pink right up underneath the lower rim of her eyes using her finger.
Afterwards, she uses the brush to dust the powdery pink over her eyelids, which gives them that fresh winter look.
The all-important thing to remember with the ‘Sugar Plum Fairy’ aesthetic is that swathes of light-reflecting shimmer are what give it its name and the key part of achieving it.
The shimmer should be the star of the show, and it should be added to the eyes, lips, and high points of the face.

Next, add the shimmer to your eyelids, on top of the cheekbones, and across the bridge of the nose.
One key tip that the model gives is to put a gloss over your lids and add just a little more shimmer to lock in that frosty finish.
Hailey opts to add a dusting of freckles to her face, but that choice is entirely up to you.
Finish up by adding a brown lip liner to give a more pronounced shape to your pout. The media mogul softens her outline by dabbing her fingers across her lip, which gives it a more natural finish.
I have to say, ‘Sugar Plum Fairy’ is probably my favourite makeup trend of the year!
