“If You Don’t Feel Good, Don’t Wear It” – The Wise, Talented And Stylish L’Wren Scott

So very sad.

Cathy Donohue

“If you don’t feel good in it, don’t wear it. Because it will never look good. Any hesitation in the fitting room and just walk away.”

These were the wise words spoken by L’Wren Scott in 2012 during an interview with the Telegraph and the three short sentences demonstrate what an intuitive designer she was.

The former model, stylist and designer was found dead in her New York apartment yesterday, marking a tragic and untimely end to a bright talent.

L’Wren Scott launched her first collection in 2006 entitled ‘Little Black Dress’ and she amassed a strong celebrity following after this.

The gallery above shows famous faces such as Nicole Kidman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Obama, Jennifer Lawrence and Tina Fey wearing her designs.

“I think L’Wren has an extraordinary ability to make dresses that genuinely flatter a woman”, once said Sarah Jessica Parker of the designer.

49-year-old L’Wren had recently launched a collection with affordable American clothing line Banana Republic, making her designs accessible for all budgets.

Much has been made of the fact that she was the girlfriend of Rolling Stone’s frontman Mick Jagger with several news outlets yesterday describing her as ‘Mick Jagger’s girlfriend’.

The fact remains that, regardless of her personal life, L’Wren was a gifted designer who had achieved so very much.

The following statement, accompanied by the below image, was posted to Jagger’s official website today:

“I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way.

“We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves.

“She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.

“I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received.

“I will never forget her,
Mick”

She understood women and their foibles, qualms and insecurities which meant her designs were lauded and appreciated by many.

A huge loss to the fashion world, we will leave you with another of her insightful quotes.

“I’ve never met a woman who thinks they’ve got a good enough figure – however perfect they look – which is sad because no one else can see these perceived flaws; they’re entirely internal” – L’Wren Scott.
