Ah, You’re Very Good – We’re Supporting The Marie Keating Foundation As Part of Electric Ireland’s Powering Kindness Week

And all you need to do is something nice for someone!

Remember last year when Ireland was named the World’s Best Country in the first ever Good Country Index? A great day, wasn’t it? Well, we figure with a title like that, our lovely little island must be full of people doing good things on a daily basis, and we want to see it in action during Electric Ireland’s Powering Kindness Week (17 – 23 January).

If you’re not familiar with Electric Ireland’s Powering Kindness campaign, let us fill you in. For the past three years Electric Ireland has been inviting the public to do something kind for the people in their life and then transforming the acts of kindness into major donations for three leading Irish charities.

How does it work? Once something kind is done, it simply needs to be logged on the poweringkindness.ie and assigned to the charity of choice. That’s right, there’s no donation necessary, just a simple act of kindness will do.

People can then pass the deed onto friends, family or strangers and share the kindness. There is no limit to the number of acts of kindness an individual can do and the charities will benefit from every kind moment completed during the week. It can be something as simple as saying hello to a stranger on the street or  buying someone in the office a cup of coffee. Go on, you know you want to!

This year the campaign will be donating a whopping €130,000 to three extremely worthy causes; the Marie Keating Foundation, the Irish Heart Foundation and the ISPCC. We’re delighted to announce that the Her.ie team is joining forces with the Marie Keating Foundation to power kindness for the charity.

The Marie Keating Foundation is dedicated to ‘making cancer less frightening by enlightening’ and its vision is a future free from the fear of cancer. Currently, 7.6 million people die from cancer worldwide every year, out of which, 4 million people die prematurely (aged 30 to 69 years). Thanks to the work of the Marie Keating Foundation hundreds of thousands of people throughout Ireland receive vital information about prevention and early detection. We’re delighted to be working with the team.

To get involved, tell us about your act of kindness on social media using #poweringkindness and tag @MarieKeating or go to www.poweringkindness.ie – make sure to include a photo or video of your kindness if you can. The charity with the most kindness done in their name will win the largest share of the €130,000 prizefund. Let’s work together to make sure it’s The Marie Keating Foundation!
