Speculation about a sequel has been circulating since last year, when Curtis captioned another picture of the two of them:

“It’s Friday. I’m just sayin! Freaky fingers crossed!”

The sequel will follow single mother Anna, played by Lindsay Lohan, as she becomes engaged to Eric.

Her and her 14-year-old daughter prepare to welcome the fiancé and his daughter into the family.

Throughout the movie, Anna and Tess will once again trade places, only this time with both of the teenage girls.

According to Variety, Sophia Hammons and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan will play the two daughters. Ramakrishnan is best know for her role as Devi in Netflix’s Never Have I Ever.

While we don’t know much about the sequel, it’s bound to be a hit given the success of the original.

The movie made over $160 million at the box office in 2003, and remains a fan favourite two decades later.

The film will be released in 2025, with a date to be confirmed in the coming months.

Lohan made her comeback in 2022 when she starred in Falling for Christmas. She then went on to star in Netflix’s Irish Wish, which received mixed reviews.
