Add us as a preferred source on Google »Lizzo has clarified what she meant when she posted a statement on social media which finished off with the words ‘I quit.’
Last week, the popstar posted on Instagram that she was “tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet”.
In the message she said she was “starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it” and was “constantly up against lies being told about me.”
The singer signed off her social media message with the words: “I quit.”
Many took this as a hint that she was quitting the music industry, whilst others thought it was just her quitting giving time to criticism.
On Monday night, Lizzo finally clarified what she meant when she said she was ‘quitting.’
In a new video, she said: “When I say I quit, I mean I quit giving any negative energy attention.”
“What I’m not gonna quit is the joy of my life, which is making music, which is connecting to people, because I know I’m not alone.
“In no way shape or form am I the only person who is experiencing that negative voice that seems to be louder than the positive.”
Lizzo has become known around the world for her music, which often promotes body-positivitiy and self-love.
But she is currently facing accusations of fat-shaming one of her dancers, after a group of her former dancers filed a lawsuit last year which accused her of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment, allegations which she denies.
