This is why you should think twice about cooking bacon in the air fryer

They may be all the rage, but they aren’t always perfect

The air fryer has all but replaced the oven and frying pan for a quick, convenient and easy dinner — not to mention healthier.

It’s become a cornerstone of cooking and you’d be hard pressed to find a household without one these days.

To their credit, they are great inventions given that there’s very little you can’t cook in them.

While bacon, for one, is a fan-favourite for air fryer users, we should probably reconsider the notion of tossing out the frying pan when it comes to cooking this food.

Dietitian Brenda Peralta has urged people to think twice about cooking bacon in the air fryer and explained why it can cause trouble in the kitchen.

It is a fatty food, and when it is cooked inside these convenient cookers, the fat can drip down and cause smoke or splatter,” she told Yahoo.

She said: “A bacon strip is a small and delicate food, and it can be difficult to flip or remove from the air fryer basket without breaking it.”

Much to our dismay, there’s also only so much bacon that can fit inside an air fryer’s compartment.

“The air fryer basket may not be large enough to accommodate a large quantity of bacon,” Peralta continued.

“This can make it difficult to cook a lot of bacon at once, which can be inconvenient if you are cooking for a group.”

“This can make the bacon difficult to cook evenly, and it can also produce a lot of smoke and odours.”
