Just when you thought you couldn’t love her any more.
Lady Gaga has opened up about how makeup has been a ‘healing practise for her in overcoming insecurities.
Sharing her beauty secret to gain confidence, the House of Gucci actress revealed that cosmetics are more than just skin deep for her and do just as much for her confidence internally as they do externally.
Having launched her own cosmetics brand, Haus Labs by Lady Gaga, in 2019, she has been able to curate and use makeup to make her feel good from the inside out.
Speaking to E! News, the Poker Face singer describes using makeup as an extension of her self-care routine.
“It gives me an extra boost of confidence. I feel I’m able to brave whatever is coming my way because I’ve really taken time for myself.”
Gaga, 37, doesn’t believe that makeup is something she needs every day, but it has and still plays a crucial role in her self-expression, identity, and conviction.
“It has been a healing practise for me since I was really young. I was incredibly insecure when I was a teenager, and when I graduated high school and went off on my own, I discovered that makeup had the power to transform who I was.”
The A Star Is Born actress is no stranger to memorable makeup looks, something she believes has been the key to her success in helping her find her voice.
Through the power of makeup and its ability to help her find her inner confidence, Gaga was able to push harder for her voice to be heard.
“I realised that I had more of an ability to speak up for myself, and it had more to do with how I felt and not how I looked. I always say that because I think everybody’s makeup style is unique to them.”
Haus Labs is a vegan, cruelty-free cosmetic brand, and the Bad Romance songstress wants her makeup brand to make others feel how she feels.
“With Haus Labs, I want people to know this is not about trying to look like me. This is about looking like you,” she explained.
Many of you may remember the viral TikTok sensation, Triclone Skin Tech Medium Coverage Foundation, from the Haus Labs collection.
Well, it’s got some competition, as the Triclone Skin Tech Hydrating Concealer is due to be released on September 7th.
Gaga attributes this new makeup addition to skin care as it features niacinamide and fermented arnica, ingredients known for minimising inflammation, adding hydration, and evening out the skin tone.
“What I love so much about it is that you don’t have to put on a full face of foundation, which is something that I’ve experienced with other concealers before this,” the 37-year-old shared.
The Alejandro singer revealed that she incorporates concealer into her beauty routine by applying it after moisturiser, either with a brush or with her fingers.
She then finishes off her makeup look with a dab of lip oil, sometimes even pinching a little bit into her cheeks for a mini-pop of colour.
Using bronzer on her cheeks and eyelids is another hack used frequently by Gaga, perfecting her trifecta of holy grail makeup items.
“You can even put the lip oil over the eye if you want a bit of gloss,” she continued. “If I just have those three things with me, I’m ready to go. That’s my go-to secret in the morning.”
Having used makeup as a form of self-expression, she urges makeup users to trust themselves when it comes to being true to themselves.
Whatever inspiration is coming your way, whatever feeling you’re having, just trust your instincts. Because when you stop trusting your instincts and you start thinking about what other people want, that’s when the relationship with beauty can be complicated.
