Any holidays planned? Any plans for the weekend? Any love interests on the go? ANY CHANCE I CAN GET THIS BLOW-DRY IN PEACE?!

Listen, don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing I enjoy more than a bit of chitchat. Off-loading your problems on someone you don’t know, that has no direct connection with any of the individuals in your stories, or more conveniently, won’t tell you that you’re completely out of order because of the unwritten rule ‘the customer is always right’, is useful.

The relationship between a client and their hairdresser is sacred; a bond built through years of loyal service and some dodgy haircuts, and for others it’s a family thing. (I would like to apologise to my sister who has been providing me cheap hairdos since 1988).

That being said, sometimes, just sometimes, the salon appointment needs to be one of complete silence. A little quiet time for us to recharge our batteries, catch up on emails, or find out what celebrity couples broke up three-months… I always get the old magazines.

Introducing the ‘quiet chair’ option, Cardiff’s Bauhaus Hair Salon offering for clientele that prefer to chill-out.

Owner Scott Miller told Wales Online: “Our team is full of brilliant conversationalists, it’s an important part of being a hair stylist, and most of our customers love coming in to have a chat. But at the same time, we understand people lead busy lives where they may have been communicating with people all day and want some relief”.

Scott know he’s onto a winner, adding: “We’re expecting the new quiet option to be really popular, and clients can always try it out as and when, depending on their mood. And they can change their mind halfway through if they feel like they’re missing out and want a chinwag”.
