Apparently Your Shampoo Can Stop Working But There’s A Way To Fix It

There's nothing worse than when your hair feels lank and dirty.

If you’ve ever washed your hair to find it lank and heavy, there’s actually a reason for this.

According to one expert, if you tend to use the same shampoo over and over, it “stops working” over time.

Mezei Jefferson, Director of Education at L’oreal Multi-Cultural Beauty Division, spoke to Byrdie recently and said that your hair can become “immune” to your regular shampoo.

“Just like the rest of your body, your hair can become immune to chemical agents, such as those in a shampoo”.

“Because of this, your shampoo may not work as effectively over time. A shampoo’s effectiveness can also be attributed to your hair texture and scalp—whether it is oily or dry—and the weather” said Mezei.

Celebrity hair stylist Danny Jeleca sings off the same hymn sheet and says that switching shampoo helps to clear product build-up.

If you love your shampoo too much to switch, Danny recommends using a clarifying shampoo (baking soda also works a treat) once a week to properly cleanse your hair.
