Rihanna skipped the biggest night in fashion

The biggest night in fashion is usually one of my favourite pop culture events of the year but I felt a little disappointed by this year's Met Gala.

As incredible as some attendees looked, I felt like some of the big stars that made the event so thrilling were missing and it all fell a little flat.

Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Blake Lively, and Rihanna were all missing from the red carpet last night.

And it's safe to say fans were pretty disappointed.

However, there's a pretty valid reason why Rihanna missed the Met Gala last night.

According to reports, the singer was feeling unwell and was forced to pull out of the event.

Her team told People that she was suffering from the flu and had no choice but to cancel her appearance.

Before canceling, Rihanna opened up to ExtraTV about the look she had planned for this year's Met Gala.

She told ExtraTV that she was going to keep it simple this year.

"I'm actually keeping it real simple this year. ... It's gonna come to what my makeup and what my hair is going to do," she said.

"Very simple-ish ... compared to everything I have done," she added.

We may not know what Rihanna's Met Gala outfit looked like but there's no doubt she would've been one of the best dressed on the night.
