‘This €26 acne serum worked wonders for my latest breakout’

Sophie Collins

Acne

As someone who suffers with persistent acne breakouts related to my endometriosis, I’ve tried just about everything

My religious go-to for acne has been the La Roche Posay Effaclar range, but I was recently sent products from Science of Skin, and thought I might as well give it a try.

I’m always skeptical trying out new products, but after just seven days of consistent use, my latest bout of acne was sorted.

First impressions

The Science of Skin Rescue Serum comes in minimalist packaging. It’s not the prettiest addition to your skincare bag but its ingredients seriously pack a punch.

acne

It boasts a blend of powerful botanicals and scientifically proven components aimed at soothing inflammation, reducing redness and combatting acne-causing bacteria.

When I first started using this range, I noticed it had a light-weight, non-greasy texture and it absorbed relatively quickly into the skin.

Unlike others that I’ve tried, it disappears into the skin, making it perfect for under your daily moisturisers and makeup.

It also didn’t sting, which had me wondering if it would be as effective as other, more astringent serums I’ve used before.

The results

After using it consistently, alongside the foaming cleanser from the same range, the redness was the first thing to come down.

By day four, the surface of the breakout and the swelling was cleared and I was just left with some raised bumps – I find this stage is the most frustrating, because they take so long to heal.

At the end of the week, the acitve breakout was completely gone, leaving – like many of my breakouts do –  a few scars behind.

The serum claims to work on scars too, so I’ll be continuing to use it to see if that’s the case.

Price and stockists

For €26.95, The Science of Skin Rescue Serum offers good value.

It’s rare to find a product that delivers such rapid and effective results without irritating the skin or breaking the bank.

If you’re struggling with persistent acne, this serum might just be your skincare holy grail.

There aren’t a huge number of stockists in Ireland yet, however, you can buy their products online.

Inish Pharmacy, Crowleys, and CH Tralee are the main stockists.
