With so many stars in the running for a limited number of awards at last night’s VMAs, it’s no surprise that style gets competitive too. Rather than blend in it seems this year’s nominees were eager to stand out… and who better to lead the way than risk taker Lady Gaga.
Although she turned up to the event in a black PVC gown, conservative by her standards as this is the woman who wore a dress made from meat, once she hit the stage things got a little crazy.
First was the all-white ensemble complete with square shaped headpiece, then a skin tight black bodysuit before before she stripped off to a seashell bikini. Nuts she may be but anyone who can change outfits that many times during one performance is to be admired!
Katy Perry performed her new single Roar and wore a leopard print dress complete with thigh slit to walk the red carpet, paired with some pretty blingin’ teeth jewellery. We’re not quite sure what she was thinking.
Miley Cyrus has been hitting headlines of late and last night was no exception, wearing a latex flesh coloured bikini she took to the stage to perform Blurred Lines with Robin Thicke. A family friendly performance it was not as the teen star gyrated in every direction, leaving very little to the imagination.
Perhaps to show Harry Styles just what he’s missing Taylor Swift turned up the vamp factor in a plunging Herve Leger gown complete with red lipstick and blonde curls. It seems she may have lost that wholesome image, once and for all.
All in all a night of more misses than hits, but full fashion marks must go to Girls star Allison Williams, who was all white in a stunning Valentino minidress.
We were also very impressed with singer Jennifer Hudson, who stayed on trend in a monochrome and leather outfit.
