If you're like me then you'll often steer clear of overly serious movies and lean towards a rom-com.
They're easy to watch, and a little predictable at times, but they never fail to cheer you up.
Netflix has produced some of my favourite modern rom-coms and comedies in recent years, and the newest Zac Efron film has to be one of the best by far.
A Family Affair stars Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman.
Joey King and Liza Koshy also star in the Netflix film.

It's a witty romance that follows a famous actor (Zac Efron) as he falls in love with his assistant's widowed mother (Nicole Kidman).
The synopsis reads:
'Zara, a young woman who works as the personal assistant to self-absorbed Hollywood star Chris Cole, discovers that her boss is having a secret romantic relationship with her widowed mother.'
I watched the movie last weekend with my sister and we were impressed from the opening scene to the very end.
It's hilarious, romantic, and featured surprisingly tender at moments.
Efron and Kidman are incredible together and Joey King plays the struggling 20-something professional too perfectly. Each character manages to steal the scene in their own unique way, but Efron comes out on top in one of his best roles since 17 Again.
It's not an Oscar-worthy drama, but sometimes all you need is a silly two-hour rom-com. Movies don't always need to be serious, upsetting or dramatic.
Sometimes what you really need is a film where Zac Efron sings along to Cher in the opening scenes.
A Family Affair is on Netflix now.

‘For culture and society’ – Why we need to fall in love with rom-coms again
Rom-coms have always mattered; Hollywood just failed to treat them right In Love Actually, Hugh Grant thinks of the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport when he feels gloomy about the state of the world, but when reality is starting to get to me, I turn to rom-coms, especially ones like the Richard Curtis classic.
