The Irish woman’s fondness for a bargain is well known and well documented.
For that very reason, discount supermarket chains have thrived on these shores in recent years – as we scramble to buy lawnmowers, steam cleaners and fishing gear on a weekly special, or delicious wine and cheese at consistently low prices.
Now, we may be doing the same with our wardrobes.
This week Lidl Ireland unveiled their 2015 spring/summer fashion collection; a range of classic pieces and accessories which can be mixed and matched to create a capsule wardrobe.
The collection includes tops, bottoms, coat, shoes and accessories at a snip – including trench coats in beige, blue and red (€24.99), ankle boots (€19.99), a snakeskin cami (€6.99) and boyfriend jeans (€13.99).
The first range from the collection will hit stores on Thursday, 26th February and it’s a nautical-feel line with Breton tops, skinny jeans, jersey dresses and pointed flats on offer.
Speaking about the launch of Lidl’s spring/summer 2015 collection, Jasmine O’Brien, Lidl, said: “As we see increased demand for fashion forward clothing at great value, it’s an exciting step for us to launch our full spring/summer 2015 collection, which features a selection of ladies’, men’s and kids’ wear.
“With more choice than ever before, customers can purchase a whole outfit from us without the big price tag. The collection focuses on classic pieces and accessories, which can be mixed and matched to create the perfect spring and holiday capsule wardrobe at a fraction of the high street cost.”
