A proud day to be a music lover in Ireland.
History was made in Irish radio on Friday afternoon as Today FM gathered 100 artists in their studios for the biggest-ever live recording on the airwaves.
The talented group, which included Róisín O, The Academic and Ham Sandwich to name but a few, performed a stunning rendition of the U2 hit One to mark the launch of the station’s album Whole Lotta Live, which was made in order to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

The performance, and indeed the album, are in memory of the late Tony Fenton and the hard work behind the scenes at the station certainly paid off, as the album whizzed straight up to the top of the album charts knocking Adele – yes, ADELE – out of the number one spot.
BOOM! Congrats @PamelaABlake & @gavinblake – @Adele, @justinbieber @coldplay slammed! #WholeLottaLive is NUMERO UNO! pic.twitter.com/If9fqOurvI

Now that’s what we call a success.
Fair play to all involved.
