New Moon Cycle: Find the right self care method for you according to your sign

Make self care a priority this week

Last night we officially entered the new moon cycle, which is the perfect time for new beginnings and healing.

Many believers use this time to reflect on the past month while setting intentions for the future – almost like moving on to a clean slate in life.

Recharging is crucial to begin a new phase, and practicing self care is a great way to do this.

Here are the best ways to practise self care according to your astrological sign:

Aries (March 21st – April 19th)

Aries are known for being extremely driven, with a quick temper.

However, an Aries is also incredibly energetic and can sometimes find themselves restless without a task to complete.

Therefore, a good workout is essential for releasing energy in a productive way for self care.

If you want to try something new and exciting, a sunrise hike or boxercise class would be perfect.

Taurus (April 20th – May 20th)

If there’s one thing a Taurus absolutely thrives at, it’s self care.

Being cosy and comfortable is crucial for this earth sign, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be social butterflies.

Hosting a wine tasting with close friends with no fancy dress code is an ideal form of self care for this sign.

Stay inside, watch some 2000s rom-coms, and use up all those sheet masks you’ve been hoarding for a ‘special occasion.’ (It doesn’t need to be a special occasion to look after yourself!)

Gemini (May 21st – June 20th)

Gemini can be a tricky sign, but while some may call them two-faced, they’re really just ambiverts who want to do what they like on their own time.

If you’re feeling social, a karaoke night is always a fan favourite, especially if you’re in the mood for some attention!

If not, you can put some of your notable creative skills to the test. Gemini are known for excelling in writing and art, so maybe it’s time to start that passion project of yours.

Cancer (June 21st – July 22nd)

Cancer may just be the queen of self care.

Being a water sign, they may often take on the emotional burdens of others, as they are natural empaths.

Some rest and relaxation is best, whether it’s a candlelit bath at home with a good book, or treating yourself to a facial and massage to ease your mind.

Cancers require time to reflect and process their emotions, so these quiet moments are sure to provide solace for them.

Leo (July 23rd – August 22nd)

Known for their lion’s mane of hair, getting a curly blowdry may seem like the most obvious way to relax for Leo, but they can be more adventurous than that.

They are outgoing individuals who like to have fun and explore unknown territories.

An upbeat Zumba class or session of hot yoga is ideal for anyone wanting to try something different while taking care of their body and wellness.

Virgo (August 23rd – September 22nd)

Virgos may often find themselves constantly being left in charge, or having too much in their schedule to have a moment to wind down.

Something fun that also lets them use their wit and humour is ideal.

Try hosting a PowerPoint night where your friends each make slideshows of every embarrassing topic you can think of: your dating wrapped for that year, a guess who of everyone’s exes. You can be the host while also blowing off some steam!

Libra (September 23rd – October 22nd)

Like the Virgo sign, Libras like to keep their mind stimulated as they wind down and practice self care.

Libras are natural social butterflies, so catching up with friends and family is a great way to look after themselves.

Whether it’s going for coffee and a scenic walk or visiting a new art gallery, exploring while socialising is a wonderful form of self care for Libra. 

Scorpio (October 23rd – November 21st)

Scorpio often gets a bad reputation for being defiant or harsh, but they require the gentle things in life too.

Inner healing is just as important as outer, and journalling can be so helpful for working out feelings.

Paired with some crystals and tarot cards, Scorpio can unleash their inner witch while doing some introspective healing. 

Sagittarius (November 22nd – December 21st)

Perhaps the most adventurous sign of all, the Sagittarius is always on the go, making self care vital for this fiery sign.

At home cocktail nights are a great way to be creative and social while also staying relaxed – you can even jazz it up by adding a theme to your event.

A Sagittarius likes having a competitive edge, so something like best dressed is a perfect way to keep things interesting. 

Capricorn (December 22nd – January 19th)

Capricorns are extremely work oriented and can often be reluctant to take a lazy day, even when they know they need it.

Work can naturally be stressful, so having plans for after your 9-5 can take some of the strain off.

A jazz bar in the evening is ideal: slow paced with relaxing music and you don’t need to drink to have a good time. 

Aquarius (January 20th – February 18th)

Aquarius is a sign that is sometimes accused of having their head in the clouds, but daydreaming is nothing to feel bad about.

Yoga is perfect for anyone wanting to include movement in their day without the stress.

Aquarius can take the action to care for themselves while also feeling free to let their mind drift elsewhere.

After all, relaxing the mind as well as the body is what self care is all about. 

Pisces (February 19th – March 20th)

Finally, we have Pisces.

Emotive, sensitive and patient, a Pisces will benefit from a long activity that they can take their time with without feeling rushed.

Something like Paint and Prosecco is a fantastic outlet for a Pisces to use their creative skills, whether it’s watercolour or charcoal.

It can be done on their own time at home, or at an art studio with friends.
