Christmas FM will return to our airwaves on November 28th.
Ahead of their comeback, they are calling on festive music makers across the country to enter the Kildare Village Christmas FM Song Contest 2023.
The seasonal radio station is on the hunt to find the next big Christmas tune and crown this year’s winner of the competition.
Talented songwriters, singers, or music fans who have written a festive tune or even recorded a cover of a Christmas classic are being called upon now to help ‘Switch Christmas On’.
Christmas FM continues their fundraising appeal ‘Magic of Christmas’ this year in support and in aid of Barnardos, Barretstown, Make-A-Wish Ireland, and a range of children’s charities making a difference in communities through Community Foundation Ireland.
In a bid to simultaneously support homegrown music and raise funds for these charities, the radio station is in search of the next festive song to help spread Christmas spirit and is now accepting entries.
The winning number will be broadcast to Christmas FM’s Irish and international fans alongside the likes of Christmas legends such as Wham, Mariah Carey, and Michael Bublé.
Last year, the song ‘A Perfect Christmas’ was sang by duo Mulled, Clare man David Graham and Wicklow man Eoghan O’Sullivan, and was crowned the overall winner of the Kildare Village Christmas FM Song Contest.
The 2022 winners are now encouraging fellow songwriters to throw their name in the ring this year.
“It was a genuine thrill to have our song played alongside all the well-known classics. It was also lovely to get messages from friends and relations who heard it on air in the days running up to Christmas.
“We’d encourage our fellow songwriters to give it a shot – it’s a fun challenge and can lead to valuable exposure.”
Entrants from across the island of Ireland are asked to submit their application ahead of the closing date of 1pm on Friday, December 1st.
To enter, applicants must write and record their very own festive song or a cover version and fill out the entry form here: www.christmasfm.com/songcontest.
We look forward to welcoming another Christmas legend to the airwaves!
