We think it’s great news!
In 2015, it was widely accepted that Australia were competing in the Eurovision Song Contest as a way of celebrating 60 years of the Eurovision.
Everyone was loving the novelty of it all, loads of people voted for them, and though they didn’t win, they did a pretty good job by bagging fifth spot.
Now though, Eurovision fans have been left scratching their heads in confusion as it has been announced this week that Australia will enter the contest once more next year… for the, urm, well the 61st year celebrations…?

We think it’s a great idea altogether and hope that this is a sign that Eurovision fever takes over the world (could you imagine the craic?!), but the news has been met with mixed reactions online.

Not impressed with #Australia at #Eurovision 2016-if @ebu wants to be innovative they should lift the ban on live music & have an #Orchestra

Unfortunately for those of you who dream of a trip Down Under if the Aussies wins, that won’t be the case as they will reportedly host in a European city.
“The feedback we got from viewers, fans, press and the broadcasters after Australia’s participation in Vienna was overwhelmingly positive,” said Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor about the news.
“We strongly believe the Eurovision Song Contest has the potential to evolve organically into a truly global event.
“Australia’s continued participation is an exciting step in that direction.”
