Winning The XFactor this year could be much easier than before

Cassie Delaney

If the turnout for today’s XFactor auditions are anything to go by, there won’t be much competition this year.

Producers were in Newcastle today to meet hopefuls but it looks like no hopefuls wanted to meet them.

Doors opened at 9am this morning and according to The Chronicle Live, by 10.30am, there wasn’t a soul left. A small amount of people gathered in St James reception but producers were left twiddling their thumbs a short while later.

The lack of interest is perplexing given Newcastle’s valiant history with the show.

Past Geordie winners include Joe McElderry, Little Mix, and James Arthur. Maybe the lack of interest is down to Geordie judge Cheryl pulling out from the show.

However, as The Chronicle points out, it has been a while since the North East has had any success.

The last someone from the region made it through to the live shows was when singing fishmonger Lola Saunders from East Boldon made the cut as a wildcard in 2014.

She exited the competition in 10th place.

We liked her.

Anyway, if you fancy it, the judges are in Newcastle until 6pm.
