It Ends With US

It will be worth the wait

For months now, the book world has been eagerly awaiting the highly anticipated film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-seller, It Ends With Us.

The 2016 romance novel skyrocketed in popularity after gripping users from the BookTok community, so, naturally fans were overjoyed to learn that a film adaptation was on the way starring Blake Lively as the lead, Lily Bloom.

It was initially announced that It Ends With Us would be released on February 9th, which was then pushed back to a summer release for June 21st.

However, it has now been confirmed that the feature film starring the Gossip Girl actress and Justin Baldoni will not hit cinemas until later in the summer.

The film adaptation is set for release on August 9th, according to PEOPLE.

While it’s not the best news, it only adds to the suspense of bringing the story and characters from Hoover’s widely acclaimed book to the screen.

It also gives those who haven’t yet read the novel more time to do so, because, there’s not a whole lot better than asking ‘Did you prefer the book or the movie?’

If you’re opting to wait until Lively and Baldoni join forces on-screen this summer, here’s a little overview of the plot.

Lily (Lively), who has had to work a little harder than most for the life she wants, meets a gorgeous neurosurgeon, Ryle Kincaid (Baldoni).

Given her past experiences, she understandably feels like something is too good to be true.

The best-selling novel follows Lily, whose life hasn’t always been easy, but things seem to be slowly working out for her after she meets neurosurgeon, Ryle Kincaid.

While Ryan isn’t exactly perfect, his feelings for Lily are strong enough for him to rethink his ‘no dating’ rule as she slowly becomes the exception.

But that doesn’t stop Lily from pondering the experiences that led Ryle to fear commitment, all the while plagued with thoughts of first love, Atlas Corrigan, who makes an unexpected return, putting her new relationship in jeopardy.

The perfect romance story to look forward to at the end of summer 2024.
