X-Factor Judge Confirms Departure On The First Of The Live Shows

There had been rumours before the beginning of the current series but it seems they are true, Gary Barlow will be departing the X-Factor.

The singer confirmed the fact last night on the X-Factor while judging one of his acts.

While complimenting band Rough Copy who performed a version of Phil Collins In the Air Tonight, Barlow commented:  "I've been here for three years and I'm so glad that for my last year on this show, I get to mentor you guys."

After he uttered the words, there was a sharp intake of breath from the audience.

Barlow didn’t give any more information or why he had planned to depart the show and there has been no other information from the X-Factor camp, who undoubtedly were not pleased that he made the announcement live on air.

The second of the live shows will take place tonight with live performances from Cher and the wonderful Ellie Goulding.
