Ladies, We Have One More Reason to Love Rob Kearney…

You need to know this.

Rebecca McKnight

As if Rob Kearney wasn’t already one of the country’s most eligible men – we’ve just found another reason to love him.

He bakes. This is not a drill.

This week, Her.ie was invited to go baking with the Irish rugby star (tough job, we know), to celebrate the launch of the GUINNESS® By Newbridge Silverware Homewares Collection.

Carefully crafted, stylish and practical… and the homewares weren’t bad either. As you can probably imagine, any collection with Kearney as the face of it will have a certain appeal, but this stuff really is very nice indeed.

In the range you’ll find stoneware pieces in a fetching navy and cream finish, sets of steak knives, mixing bowls, casserole dishes and more.

But on to our dish, and dishing the dirt.

Rob Kearney made Her.ie dinner tonight and now we can die happy. #GuinnessXNewbridge ?

Her.ie joined GUINNESS, Newbridge and Rob himself in Cooks Academy on South William St, where we made sweet… bread.

The Leinster and Ireland player helped out with some weighing, mixing and timing, and when we had a loaf in the oven, he sat down to chat with invited guests about life as a sporting star and his own kitchen habits.

In the Q&A section, Rob opened up on everything from his breakfast (massive) to his death row dessert (a chocolate brownies).

The room got a fit of the giggles, however, when he was asked by VIP magazine about @BoringKearney, the parody Twitter account that gently mocks Rob and his brother Dave. Rob was quick to place the blame on a certain RTÉ presenter, explaining:

“It came about because of The Late Late Show. Myself and Dave were on the show and Ryan Tubridy, who is the nicest lad…

“But there was a couple of questions and they were the most boring questions I’d ever been asked, so boring question? Naturally you give boring answers!

“There was a fella sitting at home who thought “these two lads have to be the most boring fellas” so he set up a page.

“Brian O’Driscoll got involved one day… it all kicked off.

“For about two weeks, I was furious!

“I don’t care now. At the start of my career… I was trying to portray I was at home early behaving when really I was out, but now I have someone to do it for me!”

The full GUINNESS® by Newbridge Silverware range can be viewed and purchased in selected stockists nationwide, at the Newbridge Silverware Showrooms, Co. Kildare, at the GUINNESS STOREHOUSE®, St. James’s Gate and online at www.newbridgesilverware.com/guinness.
