From the Office Chair To the Bar Stool.

Are you heading straight to the bar from the office after work? Jazz up your day attire using these top tips and you'll be good to go!

Rebecca McKnight

It can be hard to decide on what to wear at the best of times but this predicament becomes even more complicated when you are heading to a social event straight from work.

At Her.ie towers we have this problem at least once a week and it never gets any easier. So we got to work to see if we could find some quick-fire ways to transform our office attire into something a little more glamorous. Here is what we came up with:

  1. Swap your flats for heels – Do you like to walk to work? Are you on your feet during the day? If the answer is yes then you know that you have to wear flats or at least comfortable shoes to work. But let’s face it, you don’t really want to wear flat shoes or pumps to a cocktail bar or event. Get around this by adopting the old heels-in-your-handbag tip. Make sure you bring a plastic bag so that your flats don’t dirty your bag when you put them in. Unless of course you want to clean dirt off everything that’s in there? We didn’t think so!
  2. Take off your cardigan and put on a jacket – Cardigans and jumpers just scream “I’m sensible and working in the office!” Don’t get us wrong we love nothing more than a polka dot cardigan or cosy jumper. In fact, that’s what the majority of us are wearing at the moment.  But we would say it’s better to shed those and opt for a dressy jacket for meeting up with your friends later. A jacket will give you that instant chic factor without sacrificing the warmth of an extra layer. It’s a win-win situation.
  3. Add a belt or scarf – You have no idea how powerful a belt or scarf can be in the world of style. Fasten a wide belt around your stomach and you will automatically glam up your outfit whether it’s a dress or jeans and a blouse. We also like the fact that it conceals the huge Caesar salad and coffee we had at lunch! A bright patterned scarf can have the exact same effect. When you team this method with a pair of high heels, you will be head to toe gorgeous.
  4. Put on some jewellery – At Her.ie we adore all sorts of jewellery and as you may well know your choice of jewellery can make or break an outfit. It can often be the deciding factor on whether your outfit is casual or dressy. Use this to your advantage. Throw some jewellery into your bag and put it on before you leave the office. Statement necklaces, drop earrings and oversized rings are our personal favourites.  And that’s precisely why it sounds like we robbed a jewellery store or bank this morning on the way to work!
  5. Glam up your makeup and hair – This tip is so simple but really effective. Depending on how you do your makeup and hair, you can look like you’re just gotten out of bed or are ready to walk the red carpet. Why not throw a luscious red lipstick or dark sparkly eye shadow into your bag? Apply it before heading to wherever you’re going and you will look instantly glamorous. Also if your hair is tied up, let it down and style it as best you can with your fingers or a comb.

So there you have it, five simple ways to take your daywear into the night. Speaking of which we have an event to go to this evening, can anyone spare me a few pieces of jewellery?
