It’s here. At last. We’ve been waiting patiently for four years for this day.
Adele is back with an album after a 4 year hiatus, punctuated only by the release of spectre. Over the past month, carefully leaked snippets and previews have made my quiver with excitement so naturally at 8.30am this morning an alarm was set to download the masterpiece.
I’ve listened to it four times in full already but let me preface these opinions with the admission that this is possibly due to my unconditional love of Adele, #wcw and unrelenting desire to be her pal.
But objectively, it almost pains me to say, the album seems to have been entirely inspired by Olivia Newton John’s Hopelessly Devoted to You. I mean, I don’t know much about song writing, but I’m guessing Adele watched Grease on repeat before penning this one. And hey, I don’t blame her, my four year career break probably wouldn’t look much different.
There are some spectacular instant hits. Give My Love To Your New Lover has that uptempo vibe that makes you want to shimmy your breasts.
But who am I to judge. Here’s the best of the internet’s reactions.
