Whether you’re attempting to fit your five fruit and vegetables into your daily diet, or maybe your healthy kick downfall is snacking on chocolate, homemade juices and smoothies can be an easy way of staying full without piling on the pounds.

Making your own juice recipe isn’t hard as long as you have a decent juicer and fresh fruit and vegetables.

With added benefits of fresh vitamins and minerals, we’re going look at a new recipe each week to help you stay fighting fit.

This week… we’re sampling a vegetable cocktail to help aid weight loss while lowering blood pressure

Ingredients

  • 2 Medium apples
  • 2 Stalks of celery (80g)
  • 1 Cucumber
  • 175g Kale
  • ½ Lemon
  • 2 Medium oranges peeled (260g)
  • 40g parsley

Method:

  1. Chop the ingredients into chunks, leaving the skin on (but peeling the orange). Put into blender or juicer.
  2. Add the parsley, tearing it up in your hand and breaking down any stalks.
  3. Turn on blender and blitz. Add water if consistency is too thick for your taste.

Health Benefits:

With a citrus fresh taste and a sour kick, drinking lemon juice is a great way of boosting weight loss. According to new reports, lemon juice has also been known to control high blood pressure, dizziness and nausea, as well as providing relaxation to the mind and body.

Celery helps calm nerves because of the high calcium content & aiding in controlling high blood pressure. Raw celery should be eaten to reduce high blood pressure.

Kale is also a great ingredient to include in any weight loss juice, as it provides a host of health benefits without increasing the calorie intake of the juice drink.
