The threat was made against Simon Harris this week

Simon Harris has spoken out after a bomb threat was made at his family home this week.

The threat was made at the Taoiseach’s Wicklow home on Wednesday night, reports confirm.

It is believed his wife and their two young children were present at the time of the threat.

Harris said he would not let these people run him or his family out of their own home.

He said the “unacceptable situation” cannot continue.

Speaking in Brussels, he stressed that it is not fair to put his family through this:

“I’m staying in my home. This is a clearly unacceptable situation. Even the word hoax, I’m not sure it’s [a] fair word because I’ve no doubt these things are done to intimidate and to upset.

“I have young children, and I have a wife. This is an utterly unacceptable situation. I do think, and I say this really respectfully, that all of us in our discourse, including the media, need to reflect on how we sometimes comment on these matters.

“You know, if it’s masked men who have turned up outside your house, it wouldn’t be described as a protest. It’s not a protest when it happens outside my house and this situation can’t be allowed to continue,” Harris stressed.

The bomb threat is one of many incidents that have occurred at his Wicklow home in recent months.

According to reports, an unknown person called the Samaritans helpline on June 26th and said a bomb had been placed at Simon Harris’s home.

Gardaí rushed to the location but no device was found.
