Nooooooo.
The Great British Bake Off has announced a number of changes in recent times:
- It’s moving to Channel 4.
- Mel and Sue are leaving the Bake Off entirely.
- Mary Berry is also leaving.
- Paul Hollywood will move to Channel 4 with the show.
- Mary, Mel & Sue could potentially have a rival show on BBC.
So, now that you’re up to speed, there’s yet another development and it explains a lot.
Before Love Productions, the brains behind GBBO, sold the show to Channel 4, Mary had said she would only stay another year at most.
An insider spoke to The Sunday People about the latest Bake Off news:
“Mary loves the show, but she had made it clear she wouldn’t be able to give any long-term commitments.
“Two years from now, she does not expect to be working at the rate she is currently – and the production team were aware of this”.
In case you were wondering if this affects Mary’s plans to work on another BBC Bake Off related show, it does. Sob.
According to The Mirror, Mary will only work on “short-term projects” with the BBC.
Mary’s representative has not yet commented on the reports.
