Oprah admitted she used Ozempic to help ‘maintain’ her weight

Hollywood has always enhanced the societal beauty standards that weigh so many of us down.

It’s impossible to embrace who you are when society is telling you to look a certain way, to follow specific trends, and that having flaws is a bad thing.

One recent trend that’s already causing immense damage is the rise in celebrities using Ozempic to lose weight.

Major Hollywood stars, including Oprah, have admitted to using the drug to help them lose weight, but is it something that should be celebrated?

The drug is a diabetes medicine that’s used to treat those with type 2 diabetes.

However, celebrities have turned it into a trendy way to lose weight and people are understandably furious about it.

Oprah was recently called out after she confessed to using the drug to help maintain her weight loss.

One person tweeted: “Please don’t use Oprah turning to weight loss medication as a reason for you to do it. There is a shortage of Ozempic, and those meds are for people with chronic illnesses.”

Another said: “Oprah openly discussing using Ozempic as an ‘available’ weight loss drug is so disgusting to me when there are people who need it for HEALTH reasons who can no longer get their hands on it because they’re not in Hollywood’s 1%.”

Oprah responded to the criticism and said she won’t be ‘shamed’ for losing weight.

“The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption.

The presenter also claimed the drug is “like a gift”.

“It’s not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for. I’m absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself,” she said.
