The X Factor just doesn’t feel the same this year and a large part of that is down to the fact that Dermot O’Leary isn’t fronting the show anymore.
Olly and Caroline are doing a good job but Dermot is one of a kind and we miss him having the craic with the contestants.
Olly and Caroline began hosting the show this year
The good news is reports say he’s soon to return to our TV screens as the presenter of (wait for it) The Voice UK.
As source told The Mirror: “When The Voice joins ITV it’s going to have a new feel – they want to put their own stamp on it, and that looks likely to include a new presenter.
“Dermot is hugely popular with viewers and knows exactly what he’s doing – there’s no better choice for a host and he will be first in line”.
According to the publication, ITV paid £33 million to air the reality TV show from 2017.
Dermot was the X Factor host for eight years
Speaking at the time, BBC’s head of entertainment, Mark Linsey said: “The BBC is incredibly proud of The Voice, but the fifth series which starts in January will be our last.
“We always said we wouldn’t get into a bidding war or pay inflated prices to keep the show, and it’s testament to how the BBC has built the programme up – and established it into a mainstay of the Saturday night schedule – that another broadcaster has poached it”,
It sounds like Dermot might return to our Saturday nights even if we do have to wait until 2017…
