Hair removal company Veet has come under fire for a controversial ad campaign in which it encourages people to ‘control their dudeness’.
A series of videos show attractive women in various situations where they turn into hairy men when they don’t shave for 12 hours, with the narrator warning people: “Don’t risk dudeness, feel womanly around the clock”.
The advert has provoked a negative reaction online for reinforcing gender stereotypes and claiming that women are undesirable if they don’t remove their hair on a daily basis but others have defended the ‘light-hearted’ ads.
