Anna Wintour has been made a Dame for her services to fashion

She took her infamous sunnies off for the occasion.

Anna Wintour has been editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine since 1988, and today her services to fashion and journalism have been recognised by the Queen.

The Twitter account for The Royal Family confirmed the news this afternoon;

The British/American editor who is well known for her straight-laced and no-nonsense approach to work, was all smiles today as she accepted the honour and celebrated with friends and family.

Her younger brother Patrick Wintour, himself a journalist and editor, was clearly feeling proud tweeting a picture praising his big sis;

All hail Dame Wintour.
