Ah, Miss Honey – the teacher we all wanted.
The movie Matilda had some key characters who left a lasting impression on viewers. There was the central character Matilda, played by Mara Wilson, who was endearing and sweet, and her family, led by Danny DeVito’s character Mr. Wormwood, who were cruel and unloving.
Matilda’s school also brought another unfavourable character, Ms Trunchbull, who was the principal that terrorised the children with her overly harsh disciplinary methods.
Who can forget the nail room, where children were put if they were misbehaving, or the one time Ms Trunchball took a child by her pigtails and flung her into the yard like a discus.
The saving grace of the school and the children was Miss Honey, played by Embeth Davidtz, who was a lovely and kind hearted teacher who had the children’s well being and safety as her main priority. She ended up rescuing Matilda from her family and adopting her. She was a hero.
She looked young when she first appeared as Miss Honey back in 1996, but now, 20 years later, she still looks so fresh and youthful.
She’s now 50 years old and is still acting in movies, seen most recently in The Amazing Spider-Man 1 and 2 as Mary Parker, alongside Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.
Just look at her now, she’s stunning.
