Do You Have Bat Fever? Batman Fans Banned From Websites for Abusing Film Critics

Fans of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy have been banned from a host of websites after they started attacking critics who gave the film a bad review.

There is such a buzz about the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, isn’t there? People are literally going mental for it. So much so, in fact, that websites have been forced to remove comments posted on critic’s reviews of the film because they’re getting a little…intense…

The Irish Daily Mail reports that websites have been removing comments and suspending users left, right and centre ahead of the release of The Dark Knight Rises because the strength of feeling about the film from fans is actually a bit scary.

According to reports, reviews from US newspapers that were posted on film website RottenTomatoes.com pretty much accused the new Batman film of being ‘nonsensical’ and a ‘let down.’

Needless to say dedicated fans of Batman (and director Christopher Nolan) unleashed hell at the critics, calling them ‘morons’ among other names and sending them death threats. Woah.

Understandably, the abuse that the critics were receiving caused a major uproar and a lot of bat fans found themselves being banned from the website.

However, last night at the London premier, Christopher Nolan defended their reaction.

“I think the fans are very passionate about these characters the way a lot of people are very passionate. Batman’s been around for over 70 years and there’s a reason for that. He has a huge appeal, so I think, you know, people certainly respond to the character,” the director said.

So ladies, are you excited to see The Dark Knight Rises this weekend or are you being reluctantly dragged to the cinema by your male counterpart?
