Readers will be thrilled to hear that The Thursday Murder Club will be adapted for the big screen.

The best-selling book is being turned into a film and a stellar cast has been lined up for the project.

Ireland’s own Pierce Brosnan was one of the first names confirmed for the film.

He will also be joined by the award-winning actress Helen Mirren.

Ben Kingsley will also join

Pierce Brosnan will star as former union activist Ron.

Helen Mirren will play ex-spy Elizabeth.

Ben Kingsley is set to star as ex-psychiatrist Ibrahim.

The book is set in a retirement village and follows a group of friends who meet up to investigate unsolved murders.

The synopsis reads:

‘In a peaceful retirement village, four unlikely friends meet up once a week to investigate unsolved murders.

‘But when a brutal killing takes place on their very doorstep, the Thursday Murder Club finds themselves in the middle of their first live case. Elizabeth, Joyce, Ibrahim, and Ron might be pushing eighty but they still have a few tricks up their sleeves.

‘Can our unorthodox but brilliant gang catch the killer before it’s too late?’
