Here’s a facial to get before your wedding that actually works

Laura Holland

Welcome to The Bride Files – covering all things related to weddings as Laura prepares for her big day.

Up until recently, I had never had a facial. There I said it, I was a facial virgin. I just don’t like people touching my face or telling me what to do with it.

That all changed when I went for a Vit-illume skin-illuminating facial.

I popped along to River Medical on Baggot St for the treatment and I can genuinely say the results were brilliant. It’s a non-invasive treatment so works with your skin to bring out the best in it rather than trying to change it.

It takes just 45 minutes and involves a deep cleanse and exfoliation before super-hydrating and revitalising your skin. It uses a combination of antioxidants, peptides and hyaluronic acid to rejuvenate your skin.

Don’t worry if you’re a bit lost with that, I was too. When it comes down it, it just gives your skin back the moisture and glow that it sometimes lacks.

I’d be good for cleansing my face but this was like another level of clean.

I didn’t see the major benefits to the facial until a week or two later. My face felt softer, clearer and my makeup sat perfectly when I applied it. I’d often get slight patches of dry skin and these were gone.

I’d recommend not having it right before your wedding to give yourself plenty of time to see the benefits.

River Medical suggests that brides-to-be do a course of 4-6 treatments in the run up to their wedding to ensure optimum radiance, but they do say that it depend on your skin type, budget and what you want to achieve.

They also offer a pelleve treatment for brides, which works on the deeper layers of the skin and is excellent at targeting any fine lines around the eyes.

Prices start from around €120 per treatment depending on what you go for.

River Medical advise that you only visit a reputable clinic who will only treat you well, well in advance of the wedding, allowing ample time for the product to settle should you decide to proceed.
