It’s hard to believe that 13 Going on 30 came out 17 years ago, and it’s even harder to believe that the actress who played 13 year-old Jenna will herself turn 30 this year.
Indeed, like a lot of movies from the 2000s, 13 Going on 30 has stood the test of time. As well as being a hysterical, feel-good classic, the movie made us all want to be thirty, flirty and thriving.
This is, in some part, due to the iconic outfits worn by the film’s actors. Between Jenna’s pink slip dress, eye mask and hair accessories, the film delivered in terms of fashion.
However, one particular outfit stands head and shoulders above the rest, and that is, of course, Jenna’s multi-coloured cut-out party dress.
Our protagonist wears this to brighten up a dull party for the magazine, and boy does it work. In fact, Jenna, being the social butterfly that she is, ends up leading the attendees in a rousing dance performance of Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
Like many, I had my sights set on the dress, and hoped that one day, I’d be able to wear something like it myself.
