Julie Wendell has apologised to Kate and Gerry McCann after claiming to be their missing daughter.

Earlier this year, the 21-year-old went viral after telling her followers she was the missing British girl. However, DNA tests have since proven Julie Wendell was lying. Results proved that the young woman is 100% from Poland.

Following the negative DNA results, Julie flew home to live with her father.

She has since released an apology to Madeleine’s parents.

According to The Mirror, she said she never claimed to be Madeleine McCann but believed she was.

“It wasn’t my intention to bring sadness or any other negative emotion to anyone, especially to McCann’s family.”

“I don’t remember most of my memories, but I can remember some things and I never said that I am Madeleine McCann.”

She continued, “My main purpose was always to find out who I am and what exactly happened in my very hurtful past.”

Despite the DNA test results, Julie still believes she could be Maddie.

She added, “I still believe that it’s a possibility that I could be Madeleine.”

Kate and Gerry McCann did not respond to Julie’s allegations at first. Following her DNA test results, the couple shared a short statement.

“There isn’t anything to report at this time. If and when there is, it will come from The Metropolitan Police,” they stated.

Madeleine McCann has been missing since May 3rd, 2007. Police have still not found out what happened to the young English girl on the night she disappeared.
