This week on JOE and Her.ie‘s Sunday Sessions – folk trio The Henry Girls.
The three sisters – Karen, Lorna and Joleen McLaughlin – hail from Donegal and have an amazing body of work behind them, releasing their fifth album Louder Than Words (buy here) last year to critical acclaim.
Stunning harmonies and masterful musicianship combine to create their unique, eclectic sound which blends jazzy blues and Celtic trad with the tight harmonies of the 40s and 50s.
This Christmas sees them take up residency in The Ark for Tracks In The Snow, a festive music show for all ages based around a celebration of Winter.
The show which features specially commissioned tracks from the girls runs from 2nd – 20th December, more info here.
They took time out from rehearsal to join us in Whelan’s, accompanied by double bassist Dave Redmond, and played their own Christmas song Don’t Reach For The Stars and a cover of Clean Bandit’s Rather Be.
