Sir Bob Geldof is asking people to delete the Band Aid 30 single from their libraries and buy it again in a bid to raise vital funds for the fight against Ebola in West Africa.
The Band Aid 30 single, which has become the fastest-selling single of 2014, has already sold 312,000 copies of its 99p download.
However, Geldof is now worried that the single Do They Know It’s Christmas? has been priced too cheaply and that they will have a difficult time matching the phenomenal sums of cash that have been raised by previous Band Aid singles.
“We need to sell 300% more than we did (in previous years) to even begin to make up the cash figure,” he told the BBC. “That worries me…Even if you already have it, delete, download again.”
Geldof’s request has proven to be quite controversial.
