The heartfelt moment was captured by the crowd

Sinead O’Connor’s daughter, Roisin Waters, sang her mother’s hit song ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ during a tribute to her mother and Shane MacGowan in New York City last night.

Waters sang the cover on stage during the three-hour tribute at Carnegie Hall to the two Irish legends who died just months apart last year.

Waters, who is the second eldest child and only daughter of O’Connor, appeared barefoot on stage, backed by a live band.

You can watch the heartfelt moment below:

In the comment section below the video, people were blown away by Waters’ performance and her likeness to her late mother.

One person wrote: “Roisin moves like her mother. Such a poignant tribute.”

Another commented: “Barefoot like her Momma! Beautiful. It brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for this.”

A third motioned: “Well done Roisin, I loved your great mother and all the good things she did. She would be so proud of your wonderful tribute here.”

Another wrote: “Brave and beautiful singing. Well done Róisín. This is more of what the world needs. May your gorgeous mother Sinéad fly high with the heavenly angels. I think of her every time I pass Deansgrange cemetery. Beautiful, intelligent, inspiring woman.”

Also appearing at the tribute was Glen Hansard, Imelda May, David Gray, Cat Power, and former Pogues member Cait O’Riordan.

Hansard paired up with Cait O’Riordan to perform Fairytale of New York at one point during the concert mirroring their version at MacGowan’s funeral in December.

Hansard then joined Imelda May to perform MacGowan and O’Connor’s duet Haunted while Billy Bragg sang a different rendition of A Rainy Night In Soho.

O’Connor died in London on July 26 2023. It was later confirmed by authorities that the 56-year-old died of natural causes.

In November of the same year, MacGowan died following a long battle with an illness.

He was 65.
