It was first time she had to fight for the title.
Irish boxing legend Katie Taylor added yet another title to her collection at the National Elite Women’s Championships in Dublin on Friday evening.
Taylor scored a dominant decision victory over Shauna O’Keeffe to claim the Irish leightweight title, overcoming the Tipperary boxer 40-34, 40-36, 40-36.

Although she is now a five-time Irish champion, last night’s bout was the first time Taylor had ever had to box her way to the title as she had previously been given walkovers as there had been no opponents to contest the title.
On the night, her brother Lee took his place in the corner alongside interim coach Zaur Antia.
