The living legend that is Katie Taylor sat down with Her.ie this week to have a chat about what lies ahead for her in 2015 and also spoke about the frustration of picking up an injury during the World Championships in November.
Indeed, the recently crowned five-time World Champion, who was in New Cross College in Finglas to announce twelve new Athlete Mentors for Sky Sports Living for Sport, promised fans that “the best is yet to come.”

“People haven’t seen the best of me yet,” she told Her.ie, adding that she aims to become a two-time Olympic champion.
“I picked up an injury at the World Championships, I’ve torn cartilage and bruised a bone in my wrist.
“It’s really frustrating… but I hope to just give it a few more weeks.”
Kaite, who is kicking off her second year as ambassador for the initiative spoke not only of her own career and hopes for the next 18 months or so, but also of how rewarding and inspiring it is to work with the Sky Sports Living for Sport Programme.

The new mentors that were revealed at the Dublin school on the day included athletics star Jessie Barr, international basketball player Aoife McDermott along with sailing star Annalise Murphy.

They are joined on the programme by a host of GAA, rugby and boxing stars who aim to visit schools around Ireland and use the lessons that they have learned through sport to help young people to build up their skills and confidence and inspire them to achieve their full potential.
The initiative is free and open to all secondary schools across Ireland – all you have to do, is sign up online.
