6 places in Ireland to order cheese and wine from this Christmas

Jade Hayden

Ah, cheese.

And equally: ah, wine.

The festive season is fast approaching, some may say it’s even here already. With Christmas comes family, comes friends, and comes a whole load of cheese and wine.

Honestly, have you even celebrated Christmas if you haven’t dived into a cheese board, or seven?

There are plenty of places around Ireland currently offering cheese and wine packages for delivery in the run up to Christmas.

Some are paired expertly, some are curated just for you, and others are simply a mix of the best cheese and wines out there. Can’t go wrong, tbh.

1. Fallon & Byrne

It wouldn’t be a gourmet hamper list without Fallon & Byrne making an appearance, now would it?

Just in time for the festive season, the retailer has introduced a whole host of hampers to suit everyone – and yes, there is a cheese and wine one. For €110, Dubliners can avail of a decadent hamper filled with a red, a white, and a gorgeous selection of cheeses picked by the staff themselves.

Get your order in early though, these lads are bound to sell out.

2. Sheridan’s Cheesemongers

Galway borne Sheridan’s Cheesemongers know cheese – and lucky for us, they’ve put together a selection of cheese and wine gift packs to get you through the winter months.

This particular hamper includes sliced Comte, Durrus Og, Camembert Graindorge and Cashel Blue, as well as a stunning bottle of prosecco and and some Sheridan’s crackers.

This one will set you back €49, and the guys have got a whole host of other packages available on their website, if you’re looking for something a little different.

3. The Good Food Store

The Good Food Store is a glorious cafe, sure. But they’ve also got you sorted when it comes to festive food hampers this Christmas.

Not only are they offering customers the opportunity to build their own hamper, basket, or bowl filled with Irish cheeses and wines, but they’re also delivering charcuterie boards around Dublin.

Hampers start from just €20 and the larger charcuterie boards (serving up to 12 people) can be ordered for up to €165.

4. Tesco

In the market for something a little cheaper but just as delicious? We got you covered, because you can actually order a load of divine cheese and wine direct from Tesco.

The retailer won’t pair them for you, but that’s where the fun comes in – and in the lead up to Christmas, the supermarket has increased their cheese products to 70 to further support Irish farmers.

Nab yourself some Gorgonzola Piccante and pair it with some Gavi, or grab a little Comte and wash it down with a bit of Coonawarra Cabernet.

All of the Tesco Finest* cheese range are currently selling for €4 each, or you can mix and match 3 for €10. Can’t go wrong, like.

5. Frank’s

Fancy a festive date night with a difference? Frank’s in Dublin are currently delivering picnic packages including wine, cheese, meats, and some other tasty bits too.

Starting at €20, the box is the perfect little treat for you and a mate, you and your partner, or just you this Christmas. Add either a white, red, or sparkling to the package to give it a little something else, if you so please.

6. Dollard & Co

Something a little smaller here, but still delicious all the same. Dollar & Co are selling a mini wine and cheese hamper with, you guessed it, mine wines and cheeses.

For €32 you can order yourself a little bundle with a half bottle of wine and four house cheeses.
