No bartending skills required.
With everyone and their mam’s sick this Christmas we may be curled up on the couch while reeling in the new year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy a tipple from the comfort of our own home.
Indeed, ringing in the new year calls for a cocktail or three, but you don’t have to be a skilled bartender to whip up something good. In fact, some of the tastiest cocktails require very little skill and few ingredients too.
Here are 5 cocktails to impress your household as you ring in the New Year.
With Prosecco and cranberry, this cocktail is literally Christmas in a glass. To make one, add a measure of triple sec to two measures of cranberry juice and then slowly fill the glass with a sparkling wine of your choice. Heaven.
2. Moscow Mule
This classic cocktail packs a punch all year round, but its spicy kick goes down a treat particularly in the colder months. To make a Mule, combine one measure of vodka with ginger beer and lime juice in glass, then fill it up with ice.
3. White Russian
If you’re after a creamier cocktail this New Year’s Eve, then a White Russian should be on your list. Simply combine a shot of vodka with 2 tablespoons of Kahlúa and a tablespoon of cream, then mix and enjoy.
4. Espresso Martini
If you plan on staying up long after the countdown, you’ll need some caffeine, and what better way to get your fix than with a rich Espresso Martini? To make it, mix 1 part vodka, 2/3 part espresso and 2/3 part Kahlúa together. Shake them up with ice and then strain into a glass.
Keep it classy with a simple Martini this New Year’s Eve. For this one, you just need to combine 60ml of vodka or gin with 1 tablespoon of dry vermouth. Shake them up with ice before straining them into your cocktail glass. Delish.
