Orlando Bloom is reportedly in talks to play Joe Exotic in a movie based on the popular Netflix documentary, Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem And Madness.
The Sun report that a movie is in the works at 20th Century Fox, with producers keen to have Bloom in the title role.
“All filming is on lockdown at the moment but the studios are exploring projects they can get going on as soon as possible and they think Tiger King is the perfect story,” an insider told the publication.
“The popularity of the series has been unprecedented and they think a film about it could be even more dramatic. The film could shed light on some details behind the scenes that were not shown in the Netflix series.”
The source added that discussions about the film have only “just started,” they “believe the idea has legs” – especially if they were to get a star on board.
“They think he could really bring Joe to life on screen,” the insider added of Orlando.
The news comes as it was revealed that Investigation Discovery have commissioned a new documentary about Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin.
Investigating the Strange World of Joe Exotic will be told from Joe Exotic’s perspective. The series is said to premiere later this year.
The show will be focusing on “the investigation you didn’t get to see, revealing the secrets only Joe knows, the exclusive footage that has never been shown.”
And, of course, there’s the “search to answer the one question every person in America is asking themselves right now: although she’s denied it, is Carole Baskin responsible for the disappearance of her husband, Don Lewis?”
