By order of the Peaky Blinders!
We’ve seen the trailer, we’ve heard that it’s going to be the best season yet, and we’ve been introduced to some of the new cast members already.
The only thing that’s left to do is to announce the official premiere date for Season 5 of Peaky Blinders and we’re delighted to say that Steven Knight’s gangster drama will return to BBC1 on Sunday, 25 August at 9pm.
Oh yes, it’s time to crack open the whiskey because the Shelbys are back with a bang.
In terms of the plot for Season 5, we’ve been told that the new season of Peaky Blinders will be set in the aftermath of the Wall Street Crash where “opportunity and misfortune are everywhere. When Tommy Shelby MP (Cillian Murphy) is approached by a charismatic politician with a bold vision for Britain, he realises that his response will affect not just his family’s future but that of the entire nation.”
In an interview with Birmingham Live, Knight said that: “Director Anthony Byrne (Ripper Street / Silent Witness) has done a fantastic job. And Cillian is right at the top of his game” while in another interview with Radio Times, Knight reaffirmed his belief that Season 5 is the best one yet.
“I personally believe – and I think everybody involved believes – that this is the best series yet, for all sorts of reasons. There’s a lot going on, there’s a lot of bells ringing, there’s a lot of conflict happening,” she said.
If that’s not enough good news, the writer/creator also revealed that the show will run for seven seasons. Hell yeah!
In case you’re looking for a deep-dive on the latest trailer, we’ve got that right here.
In the meantime, sit back and count the days until the Shelbys are back on our screens.
We cant wait.
