The hold America’s Next Top Model had on us in the Noughties was undeniable. To this day, I can still hear Tyra Banks’ say “I was rooting for you. We were all rooting for you!”

The show, which saw models compete to become the next big name on the catwalk, inspired similar shows in its aftermath – proving the demand for a modelling reality series was at a high.

Today, a new show is in the works and will be a spin on the beloved Top Model’s format, as well as bringing its hunt for inclusive beauty in line with the modern day audience in Channel 4‘s latest series: New Model Agency.

The show will delve into modelling firm Zebedee Talent as they carry out diverse casting for the fashion world and the series will give viewers an insight into the hard work, hustle, and competitiveness of this industry.

The agency already represents notable names from the industry, such as Down Syndrome model, Ellie Goldstein, and Jasroop Singh, who has vitiligo.

New Model Agency will follow a young, diverse, and dynamic cast of models as they strive to make a name for themselves in the fashion industry and compete at castings to land advantageous fashion and advertising deals, as well as working to strut their way onto the catwalk at London Fashion Week.

Filming for the show is reportedly underway at the moment will plans to air next year, according to The Sun.

A source told the outlet that the fashion industry “isn’t just about needle-thin, glossy-skinned men and women any more and the industry has taken huge leaps to keep up with a changing world and designers’ shifting priorities”.

“It will explore the highs and lows of the industry through the lens of the models and the agency that represents them,” the source added.

“Zebedee Talent, which has a number of disabled, visibly different, non-binary and trans models on its books. It will also capture their search for fashion’s newest faces to bolster their books.”
