A third Mamma Mia movie is just what we need
‘Mamma Mia‘ creator Judy Craymer has given an exciting update on a possible third movie.
We’d happily watch half a dozen more ‘Mamma Mia’ films, solely to see Colin Firth living his best life, but we’ve only been blessed with two so far.
Both films were major box office hits and fans are eager to see the franchise expand, but the question is; will the cast get together for another?
“Well, yes very much I do want to do a third film and I hope it will happen,” Judy said at a recent Q&A.
“But everything with Mamma Mia takes a long time,” she admitted.
“It took many years for it to happen for television, but I do hope so.”
Amanda Seyfriend, Christine Baranski, and Lily James all support a third film. Meryl Streep even wants a third movie to happen, and said her character Donna should come back like a ghost in a soap opera.
Writer and director Ol Parker has given the third movie the go-ahead but nothing is official just yet.
Ol confirmed producer Judy Craymer always wanted it to be a trilogy.
He told Digital Spy: “The first one made an enormous amount of money, and I think we made a fair amount too,” he explained. “I know that there is a hunger for a third, and I know that she has a plan. Wouldn’t it be lovely?”
Judy is currently working on the TV show ‘Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream’ but with this much support, we’ve no doubt a third ‘Mamma Mia’ movie will happen in the future.
