She may not seem like the shy and retiring type but it has been claimed that singer Rihanna recently underwent counselling sessions to boost her confidence ahead of a major gig.

The Bajan star was paid £500,000 to perform at the London’s Westfield Stratford City but was apparently so nervous ahead of the appearance that she enlisted the services of a ‘confidence coach’ to make sure she was at her best on stage. According to The Mirror, Rihanna attended sessions with psychologist Natalie Thomas, who describes herself “an award-winning life coach, enabling you to boost your confidence and achieve your dreams”.

“Rihanna was incredibly nervous ahead of her November 2012 Westfield gig because there was a lot of pressure on her,” said a source.

“Her appearance fee had already been reported and she didn’t want to be a disappointment. She saw Natalie who advised her on how to cope and gave her a few techniques and tricks for dealing with that stress, and on building up her confidence. She helped restore Rihanna’s self-esteem and shed her inner critic.”
