Gigi Hadid is forced, yet again, to respond to body-shamers online

We admire her for standing up for herself.

Gigi Hadid is arguably one of the most beautiful models on the planet right now, and like just about every other model in the industry she faces criticism about her weight. The model recently posted a picture of her silhouette against a tropical backdrop to her Instagram account. https://www.instagram.com/p/BJHS6JPjCxM/?taken-by=gigihadid The majority of comments were about how amazing she looked. Fans posted comments like 'goals' and 'so beautiful'. However, there were critics on her page who called her out for being 'too skinny'. Gigi, who is known for standing up for herself, replied to the critics in a lengthy comment on the photo.

 “It's called growing up. Bodies change as girls become women, just as my mum’s body changed at the same age. “Having my body judged over the span of fourteen-to-woman years has really shown me the human tendency to label and make uneducated judgement.

The model continued by explaining that she is happy with her figure and that bodies change.

"Meanwhile, I loved my body as a 17-year-old athlete and I love my body now. Yes, I've lost some 'baby fat,' but muscle mass from my intensive volleyball training in high school has changed over the years into lean muscle from boxing, and work stress can have its affect, but purposefully changing my body has never been my thing. I still eat what I want, I'm still strong, and I'm still healthy.”

She asked negative commentators to consider the effects these words have on young people.

Your comment won't get me down, but next time, please think about the young women who may read body-judgement comments and judge themselves as they see their bodies growing and therefore naturally changing, too.”
